4A Region 4 recap September 4, 2013
Tamorris Conner and Kynbotric Mason provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Columbus. The longest such play in 4A Region 4 this season, the connection resulted in 65 yards.
West Lauderdale scaled the state rankings by moving to 101 from 146 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Knights climbed the ranks as a result of topping Northeast Lauderdale 26-23.
West Lauderdale's dynamic duo of Tyler Turnage and Tyrin Henry proved tough for the Trojans to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Turnage threw for 87 yards and 3 touchdowns and Henry had 89 yards receiving. Noah Nix helped West Lauderdale's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 19 yards.
Stan McCain's team's dynamic duo of Turnage and Henry proved to be unstoppable against Northeast Lauderdale, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Turnage put up the best numbers through the air as the Knights topped Curt Blackburn's team.
Damian Fields was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 96 yards on 19 carries as Houston bested the Trojans. Garrison Howell also contributed to the rushing game with 76 yards on the ground.
Jamall Collins was a passing and rushing force as Leake Central bested Leake County. He completed 8 passes for 95 yards and also ran for 41 yards. Collins' favorite target this week was Greg Collins, who caught 3 passes for 54 yards.
Henry was the best wideout in 4A Region 4 this week as the Knights topped Northeast Lauderdale.
Caledonia took down Hamilton 41-3 last week, the largest margin of any game.
