The Progreso Red Ants will head out on the road to face off against the Monte Alto Blue Devil at 5:30 p.m. Progreso will be strutting in after a victory while Monte Alto will be coming in after a defeat.
Progreso can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They blew past IDEA Riverview 58-17 at home. The win was just what Progreso needed coming off of a 56-17 loss in their prior match.
Sophia Pecina continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, shooting 6-for-7 from downtown and almost dropping a triple-double on 33 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists. The game was her 16th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexa Galvan, who scored 15 points along with six steals.
Meanwhile, Monte Alto's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 15th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a serious blow against Rio Hondo, falling 74-15. Monte Alto has struggled against Rio Hondo recently, as their game on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Progreso now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Monte Alto, their defeat was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-3.
Everything came up roses for Progreso against Monte Alto in their previous meeting back in January as the team secured a 53-14 victory. Will Progreso repeat their success, or does Monte Alto have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
