The Farmington Scorpions will take on the West Las Vegas Dons at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Farmington made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Gallup, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Farmington was the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over Gallup on Tuesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Alba Allen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). Allen was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Farmington let Desiree Quiver and Danielle Zunie run wild. Quiver went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Zunie went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits Quiver has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Annaleese Armstrong, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Farmington was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .552. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, West Las Vegas gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Gallup a 10-0 shutout. The win was familiar territory for the Dons, who have now won seven games in a row dating back to last season.
Malie Satete made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over six innings pitched. Satete was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-4. She has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.
In other batting news, Alexis Pacheco was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Mattea Griego was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Farmington now has a winning record of 3-2-1. As for West Las Vegas, they pushed their record up to 1-0 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.
