Given Decatur Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 59th, while Greenwood is ranked 251st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Decatur Central had a senior duo take command as Ayden Lawson scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and Kc Berry scored 15 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Berry is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last six games he's played. Melakih Cunningham was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Decatur Central's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Greenwood, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Decatur Central will challenge Avon at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Greenwood on the road again on Friday and play against Perry Meridian at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th.
