The Dr. Joaquin Garcia Bulldogs will challenge the American Heritage Stallions at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Dr. Joaquin Garcia's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Leonard as Dr. Joaquin Garcia made off with an 11-0 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Bulldogs as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Joseph Pallante looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in March of 2024.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Rocco Castrillon, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Troy Burke, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask American Heritage). They were the clear victor by a 17-0 margin over Santaluces last Thursday. The Stallions have beaten the Chiefs the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Chiefs has come to flipping the script.
Brady Snow looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
At the plate, American Heritage got a massive performance out of Ricky Bellantoni, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. The dominant performance gave Bellantoni a new career-high in RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Zhao, who went 3-for-4 with six RBI, one run, and one double.
American Heritage always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
American Heritage's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs over those games. As for Dr. Joaquin Garcia, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.
Dr. Joaquin Garcia couldn't quite finish off American Heritage in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 3-1. Will Dr. Joaquin Garcia have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
