Richland is on a six-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Forney is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Richland Royals will take on the Forney Jackrabbits at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Richland's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last ten contests.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Richland walked away with it. They won a match that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by the Eagles 48-47. 48 seems to be a good number for Richland as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
It was another big night for Michael Turner, who rushed for 292 yards and four touchdowns, and also caught a touchdown. Turner has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last eight times he's played. Drew Kates was another key contributor, rushing for 24 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Friday Forney sidestepped Lone Star for a 26-24 victory. Given Forney's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 16th, while Lone Star is ranked 65th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Forney found their leader in underclassman Javian Osborne, who rushed for 201 yards and two touchdowns. Osborne is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last five games he's played.
Their wins bumped Richland to 12-0 and Barbers Hill to 9-3.
