The Davie War Eagles put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 72-64 victory over Parkland. Given Davie's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while Parkland is ranked 248th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Davie got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jackson Powers out in front who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. Powers has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Ratledge, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Davie pushed their record up to 14-0 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.8 points per game. As for Parkland, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season.
Davie will head out on the road to take on Glenn at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Glenn is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. As for Parkland, they will be playing at home against Mount Tabor at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
