The Lewis-Palmer Rangers will challenge the Pueblo County Hornets at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are still undefeated (Lewis-Palmer has five wins , while Pueblo County has six dating back to last season).
Lewis-Palmer gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Fountain-Fort Carson by a score of 5-1. The matchup marked the Rangers' most dominant win of the season so far.

JW Babbitt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Joey Davis was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. He also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Hunter Morgan, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Pueblo County got themselves on the board against Palisade on Wednesday, but Palisade never followed suit. They walked away with a 5-0 victory over the Bulldogs.
Cohen Glenn and Cole Barger were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Glenn tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Barger tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Furthermore, Glenn didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. At bat, Glenn scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Barger went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles. Those two hits gave Barger a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Julian Reyes, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Pat Noga, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.
Pueblo County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Palisade only posted a batting average of .208.
Pueblo County's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Lewis-Palmer, their record now sits at 5-0.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Lewis-Palmer has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Pueblo County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Lewis-Palmer might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Pueblo County in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can Lewis-Palmer avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
