Football Recap: Appoquinimink Skates Past Cape Henlopen with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Appoquinimink). They claimed a resounding 48-14 win over the Cape Henlopen Vikings. The Jaguars haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Appoquinimink got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Desai Drummond out in front who threw for 296 yards and five touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, and also punched in one score on the ground. Those 296 passing yards gave Drummond a new career-high. Jahsiear Rogers was in the mix as well, providing Appoquinimink with two TDs.

Appoquinimink's run defense was locked in: Cape Henlopen could only muster 3.1 yards per carry. The Jaguars didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged nine.

When it comes to explaining why Cape Henlopen lost on Friday, don't look at Jameson Tingle. Despite the final result, he threw for 153 yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 39 yards.

Appoquinimink's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Cape Henlopen, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Appoquinimink and Cape Henlopen will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Jaguars will face off against rival Caravel Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Cape Henlopen is set to square off against their familiar foe Smyrna at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
