Camp Verde extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 4-15. They lost 21-4 to the Fountain Hills Falcons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-1 back in March.
Chase Dugan and Nolan Hicks stepped up to the plate in a big way. Dugan got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Hicks went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
As for Fountain Hills, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. The result was nothing new for Fountain Hills, who have now won seven games by nine runs or more so far this season.
On Fountain Hills' side, Braxton Wuertz was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Wuertz has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Kainoa Brilhante was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Jacub Petrick was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Camp Verde will face off against rival Phoenix Christian at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Fountain Hills is set to challenge their familiar foe Scottsdale Christian Academy at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
