Freeburg is 1-9 against Breese Central since September of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Midgets will challenge the Cougars at 2:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Freeburg comes in on six and Breese Central on seven.
Freeburg is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They walked away with a 46-36 victory over Highland.

Freeburg found their leader in sophomore Joseph Carmack, who rushed for 193 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries, and also threw for 200 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 76.9% of his passes. Carmack really tore up the turf during one magnificent 95-yard run. Cooper Kisgen also helped with two scores in total.
Freeburg didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Brady Kerr, Will Gebke, Kisgen, and Ryan Garland picked up one apiece.
Meanwhile, Breese Central humbled Columbia with a 48-15 victory. With the Cougars ahead 34-7 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Freeburg better keep an eye on Cole Davis. He was instrumental in Breese Central's win, rushing for 139 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries, while also catching one TD. Those 139 rushing yards gave Davis a new career-high. Kameron Biggs was another major influence, as he rushed for 75 yards and ran in a TD.
Breese Central was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 277 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Breese Central's defense and their nine sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Clayton Jansen and Brody Beckmann, who racked up 5.5 sacks between them.
Freeburg's record is now 9-1. As for Breese Central, their record now sits at an identical 9-1.
Saturday's matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Kisgen and Davis. Kisgen just won't slow down this season and has run in 14 touchdowns while averaging 93.5 rushing yards per game. Davis has been a dominant force too and has run in 18 touchdowns while averaging 93.1 rushing yards per game.
Freeburg took a serious blow against Breese Central in their previous matchup back in September, falling 49-0. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Davis, who rushed for 132 yards and four scores while picking up 7.3 yards per carry, and also picked up 47 receiving yards. Now that the Midgets know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
