Kennedy is 0-3 against Sherwood since October of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Cavaliers will venture away from home to face off against the Warriors at 6:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Kennedy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Whitman 50-8. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Cavaliers just coasted through the last quarter.

Ziaire Mays

| 09/25/25 @ Springbrook | 190 |

| 10/03/25 vs Northwood | 169 |
| 10/31/25 @ Poolesville | 140 |
Kennedy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ziaire Mays led the charge by throwing for 270 yards and four touchdowns while completing 91.7% of his passes. Those 270 passing yards gave Mays a new career-high. Michael Wright was in the mix as well, providing Kennedy with two TDs.
Kennedy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jayden Gales and Renny Portillo.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sherwood). They claimed a resounding 54-7 victory over Richard Montgomery. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland football rankings (they are ranked 21st, while the Rockets are ranked 87th) , the win two weeks ago wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kennedy better keep an eye on Preston Hamrick. He was instrumental in Sherwood's win, rushing for 117 yards and three scores on only ten carries, while also catching one touchdown. That receiving touchdown was Hamrick's first of the season. Mustafa Habib was another key player, rushing for 80 yards and one TD on only eight carries.
Sherwood was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 292 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
The win was the third in a row for Sherwood, bringing their record up to 8-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 4.7 points on average over those games. As for Kennedy, their record now sits at 6-4.
Thursday's game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Ashad Davis and Habib. Davis just won't slow down this season and has run in 10 touchdowns while averaging 104.6 rushing yards per game. Habib has been a dominant force too and has run in 7 touchdowns while averaging 78 rushing yards per game.
Kennedy was taken down by Sherwood 56-0 when the teams last played back in October of 2019. Can the Cavaliers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
