Softball Recap: Coral Springs Charter Makes It Five in a Row on the Road

Coral Springs Charter got themselves on the board against Pembroke Pines Charter on Tuesday, but Pembroke Pines Charter never followed suit. They blew past the Jaguars 10-0. Considering the Panthers have won ten matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Sophia Bertorelli looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Coral Springs Charter let Addi Michel and Gio Gurgel run wild. Michel scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Gurgel went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Heather Robertson, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Coral Springs Charter's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Pembroke Pines Charter, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.

Coral Springs Charter will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Dr. Joaquin Garcia at 6:00 p.m. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.56 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Pembroke Pines Charter, they will venture away from home to take on South Plantation at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
