Dallastown is 9-1 against Spring Grove since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Wildcats will head out to challenge the Rockets at 4:15 p.m. Dallastown will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
It was a proper cat-fight when Dallastown duked it out with Red Lion on Friday. The Wildcats narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Lions 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wildcats have posted since April 4th.
Carson Meyer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, earning one run and two stolen bases.

In other pitching news, Matt Stone tossed a big game, pitching 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of Dallastown's success: when he allows at most three hits the team is undefeated (and 5-6 when he doesn't).
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Cade Flinchbaugh, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.
Meanwhile, Spring Grove unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They came up short against Waynesboro, falling 8-2. Having soared to a lofty 23 runs in the game before, the Rockets couldn't push the score so high this time.
Like Dallastown, Spring Grove also got a great game from a two-way player: Abrum Dull. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Dull was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. That triple was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Tanner Hoffman made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two doubles and one stolen base. Logan McMaster also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Dallastown's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-6. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Spring Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Dallastown has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Spring Grove struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Dallastown skirted past Spring Grove 4-3 when the teams last played on April 2nd. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
