Football Recap: South Putnam Piles Up the Points Against Fountain Central

South Putnam extended their postseason success on Friday against Fountain Central. They really took it to the Mustangs for the full four quarters, racking up a 45-7 victory. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

It was another big night for Ty Benton, who rushed for 176 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries. His rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his seventh straight game with at least 126 rushing yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Cline, who threw for 75 yards and a pair of TDs.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: South Putnam was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 431 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 213 rushing yards in 15 consecutive games dating back to last season.

South Putnam's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Fountain Central, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-5.

Coming up, South Putnam will head out to take on Riverton Parke at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will need to watch out since the Panthers have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. Fountain Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
