The Random Lake Rams will take on the Valders Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
On Saturday, Random Lake made easy work of Columbus Catholic and carried off a 14-8 win. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won three matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Ava Daggett was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Daggett was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Finlee Schicker was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. Those RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season. Laila Sanders was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
Random Lake kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Valders gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They skirted past Winnebago Lutheran Academy 3-2.
Like Random Lake, Valders also got a great game from a two-way player: Megan Hochkammer. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Hochkammer has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Abby Schultz, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Valders' victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Random Lake, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
Everything went Random Lake's way against Valders in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Random Lake made off with a 12-2 victory. Do the Rams have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
