Volleyball Recap: Boardman's Winning Streak Snapped at 11 Games

Boardman and Gilmour Academy squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Boardman had to settle for second. They came up short against the Lancers, falling 3-0. The Spartans' loss signaled the end of their 11-game winning streak.

While Boardman was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Gilmour Academy's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-14, 25-20.

Maya Flores paced Boardman's offense, picking up nine kills. Flores got some help from Gianna Commons and her ten assists. Flores was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Avery Martin was a one-woman wrecking crew For Gilmour Academy. as she had 26 digs and two aces. That's the most digs Martin has posted since back in August.

Boardman's defeat dropped their record down to 19-6. As for Gilmour Academy, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-9.

Boardman does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Gilmour Academy, after both having extra time off, they and Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
