The Carey Panthers lost against the Wendell Trojans back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Carey's tough 55-34 loss to Wendell might stick with them for a while. Carey has not had much luck with Wendell recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Carey's loss came despite strong showings from Preston Wood and Hagen Hennefer. Wood scored 15 points along with three steals, while Hennefer scored nine points along with five rebounds. That was a full 44.1% of Carey's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Carey's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-9. As for Wendell, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carey will challenge Shoshone at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Wendell, they will head out on the road to face off against Gooding at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Gooding is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.
