2A District 2 recap Oct. 16, 2012
Owensboro Catholic extended the longest winning streak in 2A District 2 this week by beating Union County, 52-25. The victory was the eighth in a row for the team.
Hancock County led the league in scoring this week after putting up 58 points on Todd County Central. Justin Hamilton ran for 150 yards in the win.
Hancock County's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Hornets feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Koert Morris has thrown for 814 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while Beau Case has six catches for 239 yards. Hamilton leads the league in rushing with 932 yards.
The Hornets' Hamilton is a mere 68 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season.
A big matchup in 2A District 2 this week will be when Hancock County takes on the Bears. As it stands, Chris Morris' team is in second, while Butler County is in third.
Owensboro Catholic made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 3,361 from 3,853. The advance stemmed from a 52-25 victory over the Braves last week.
