The McNairy Central Bobcats will square off against the Chester County Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. McNairy Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
McNairy Central had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Jackson South Side on Tuesday. The Bobcats put the hurt on the Hawks with a sharp 12-2 win. The Bobcats haven't had any issues with the Hawks recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Chanley Steele made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two).
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bailee Shelton, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted over her last three contests. Another player making a difference was Carlee Shelton, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
McNairy Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in four consecutive matchups.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Chester County and Lexington meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Eagles came up short against the Tigers, falling 13-4.
Chester County has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for McNairy Central, they pushed their record up to 11-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home.
Everything went McNairy Central's way against Chester County in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as McNairy Central made off with a 7-1 victory. Do the Bobcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
