Metro-East Lutheran is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Althoff Catholic with a sharp 18-1 win on Monday. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Crusaders recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Taylor Weber made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Audrey Elmer, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Thea Ball was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Marquette Catholic narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past East Alton-Wood River 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Explorers have posted against the Oilers since April 24, 2017.
Kenna Lievers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Allie Weiner was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kennedy Eveans, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
The win made it two in a row for Marquette Catholic and bumps their season record up to 5-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Metro-East Lutheran, the win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 3-6.
Marquette Catholic's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Metro-East Lutheran has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.2 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Marquette Catholic, though, as they've been averaging only 3.9 strikeouts. Will Metro-East Lutheran keep running through batters, or will the Explorers buck the trend?
