One of the nation’s top wide receivers, Kyle Prater, announced this afternoon that he will attend the University of Southern California. He also considered Notre Dame, Illinois, Oklahoma and Tennessee.
The 6-foot-5, 205-pound senior is ranked as the No. 3 wide receiver and No. 35 overall player in the nation by CBS College Sports recruiting expert Tom Lemming.
Last year Prater snared 60 passes for 948 yards and nine touchdowns for Proviso West (Hillside, Ill.). During last week’s season opener, a 16-9 victory over Stagg, Prater caught seven passes for 117 yards. He runs a 4.48 40 and bench presses 315 pounds.
MaxPreps football editor Steve Spiewak says, “There’s a tremendous buzz about Prater in the Chicago area. It’s becoming pretty clear that he’s one of the state’s biggest recruits in some time. I expect him to continue to dominate as a senior and earn MaxPreps All-American honors.”
Proviso West coach Famous Hulbert told MaxPreps, “If you see him in pre-game, it’s ‘wow!’ He has extra large hands, is a great technician and route runner. He’s a weapon. He’s a future (NFL) first-rounder and has a chance to be the No. 1 draft pick.”
