Greenwood is 2-8 against Halifax since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. We've got a battle between Wildcats coming up. Greenwood will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
Greenwood is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They fell just short of Line Mountain by a score of 14-12 on Friday.
Dylan Yohn was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Gavin Oburn stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he went 2-for-3 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Michael Hoy was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Halifax had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They blew past the Trojans 14-4. That ten run margin sets a new team best for the Wildcats this season.
Like Greenwood, Halifax also got a great game from a two-way player: Brandon Schell. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. Schell was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Dayton Bittner was a standout: he scored three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Cohen Bechtel, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Halifax kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Halifax pushed their record up to 3-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Greenwood, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
Greenwood might still be hurting after the 12-3 defeat they got from Halifax in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can Greenwood avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
