The Stockton Tigers will face off against the Diamond Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Monday, Stockton was able to grind out a solid win over Butler, taking the game 7-2. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Bears: they've now won four in a row.
Ellie Pettit was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Raelyn Henderson was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Zoe Rains, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Diamond put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 14-11 win over Mt. Vernon. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Wildcats, who until this game were averaging 2.75 runs allowed.
Like Stockton, Diamond also got a great game from a two-way player: Taelyn Reeder. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Reeder was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Talan Ingle, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Talyn Daniels was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.
Diamond pushed their record up to 12-0 with the victory, which was their 26th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Stockton, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.
Stockton suffered a grim 12-5 defeat to Diamond when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Tigers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
