Elk Rapids are packing up and hiking across state lines for their matchup on Saturday. They will square off against St. Francis at 1:00 PM. The odds don't look promising for Elk Rapids, but the bigger the opponent is, the harder they fall.
Elk Rapids might be getting used to good results now that the squad has three wins in a row. They captured a comfortable 43-28 win over Cheboygan. Senior Alex Villegas was the offensive standout of the match for Elk Rapids, as he rushed for 63 yards and 2 touchdowns. In fact, with ten tackles Villegas was a force on both sides of the ball.
Meanwhile, St. Francis were averaging 30.67 points per game entering their game last Friday, but they just couldn't find their rhythm against Sheboygan Falls. St. Francis ended up on the wrong side of a painful 0-27 walloping at Sheboygan Falls' hands. That makes it the first time this season St. Francis have let down their home crowd.
Elk Rapids's victory lifted them to 7-2 while St. Francis's defeat dropped them down to 8-2. We'll see if Elk Rapids' success rolls on or if St. Francis are able to steal their positive momentum.
