Last Saturday, everything came up roses for Mapleton at home against St. Peter's as the team secured a 71-16 win. That 55 point margin sets a new team best for Mapleton this season.
Meanwhile, South Central's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their 11th straight loss. They took a 58-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Monroeville. South Central has struggled against Monroeville recently, as their contest on Thursday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite their defeat, South Central saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Gunner Ray, who scored 19 points along with three steals, was perhaps the best of all. Weston June was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six assists and three steals.
Mapleton pushed their record up to 12-5 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.0 points per game. As for South Central, their loss dropped their record down to 2-16.

One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Ray, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds.
