The Covenant Christian Cougars stacked an eighth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Saturday. They blew past Midland Classical Academy 66-27 at home. The victory was just what Covenant Christian needed coming off of a 83-40 defeat in their prior matchup.
Covenant Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aaron Turner, who scored eight points along with five assists and five steals. Turner is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games he's played. Another player making a difference was AJ Guerra, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Covenant Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. As for Midland Classical Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-18.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Covenant Christian will stay at home for another game and welcome Lake Country Christian at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Lake Country Christian has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 15. As for Midland Classical Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Grace Prep at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
