It was a good run, but the Knightdale Knights unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Tuesday. They were beaten by Rolesville 60-22. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Knightdale has scored all season.
Several Knights players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Andrea Watkins, who scored six points along with two blocks. That's the first time this season that Watkins posted two or more blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Melody Bryant, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds.
Rolesville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Caitlyn Jones, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Jones has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kayla Bush, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.
Knightdale's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-6. As for Rolesville, they pushed their record up to 12-4 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Knightdale will be playing at home against Broughton at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Broughton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Tuesday. As for Rolesville, they will head out on the road to challenge Wake Forest at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Wake Forest will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while Rolesville is ranked 18th).
