Basketball Game Preview: Chatfield Chargers vs. Lakewood Tigers

The Chatfield Chargers will square off against the Lakewood Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Chatfield is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.2 points per game this season.

Chatfield came up into this matchup off a tough 37-point loss on Monday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Ralston Valley by a score of 47-45 on Wednesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Chargers in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now lost five in a row.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Torrence Bosanko, who posted 11 points. Those 11 points gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sadie Goodwin, who went 5 for 12 en route to 13 points along with six boards and three steals.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Lakewood took on Arvada West on Wednesday. Lakewood was dealt a 61-24 loss at the hands of Arvada West. The game marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Chatfield will have to keep a close watch on Aaliyah Perea and Iben Last, a pair of players who had a big impact on Lakewood's prior game. Perea had six points and three steals, while Last earned nine points and six rebounds. Last continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Chatfield's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Lakewood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-7.

Everything came up roses for Chatfield against Lakewood in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the team secured a 74-23 victory. In that contest, Chatfield amassed a halftime lead of 37-10, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
