In this week's power rankings, we saw one team go soaring up and another team come crashing down, along with everything in between. Part of the action? A towering 110-point combined score for Allen and Plano East.
Can't Touch This
Aledo's 46 - 6 win over Burleson last week had a lot to do with the leadership of junior Jase McClellan. McClellan rushed for 223 yards and five touchdowns. That performance landed McClellan among the top power-ranked players for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
On paper, the match between Allen (1st in the power rankings) and Plano East (11th) looked as though it might be one of the more compelling ones, but things did not play out that way on the field. Everything went Allen's way against Plano East as it secured a 74 - 36 win. The MaxPreps rankings were spot on as they projected Allen as the clear winner.
Movin on Up
The Haltom offense has been a force to be reckoned with this season, and last week was no different. It claimed a 48 - 34 victory over Trinity. Haltom gave the Trinity offensive line some real trouble with seven sacks (and will no doubt be looking to keep the pressure on Abilene this Friday). Haltom's success was rewarded with a 19-spot boost in the power rankings, the biggest improvement of any team.
Can't Stop Won't Stop
It was another outing, another win last week for the team with the longest stretch of success (seven consecutive games). Prestonwood Christian picked up a decisive 'W' against John Paul II, finishing up at 78 - 7. Nevertheless, Prestonwood Christian did not have enough punch to impress the power rankings algorithm and slipped two spots in the rankings.
