Point Loma proved they can win big last Monday (they won by eight) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They never let the Helix Highlanders get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory. The win was nothing new for the Pointers as they're now sitting on three straight.
Phoenix Brant was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Branden Keeling, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Point Loma's record is now 4-1. As for Helix, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.
Coming up, Point Loma will be playing in front of their home fans against Eastlake at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Eastlake 1.6, Point Loma 1.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Helix, they will take on Patrick Henry in a tournament on Friday. The last ten games Helix has played (dating back to last season) have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
