The Richlands Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by East Duplin 57-19. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Richlands has scored all season.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mia Wells, who scored two points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jayla Bonney, who scored six points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Richlands struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
East Duplin's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kinsey Cave, who scored 11 points. Those 11 points set a new season-high mark for her. JaMyah Pickett was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds.
Richlands has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season. As for East Duplin, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-1.
Richlands will be home for the holidays to greet Pamlico County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Pamlico County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 33 on Wednesday. As for East Duplin, they will head out on the road to face off against North Lenoir at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. North Lenoir will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 356th, while East Duplin is ranked 158th).
