Putnam hasn't had much luck against Griswold recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Clippers will take on the Wolverines at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Back in September, Putnam beat Harvard Ellis Tech 3-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Clippers.
Putnam had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-15, 29-27, 25-14.
Meanwhile, Griswold was able to grind out a solid win over Lyman Memorial on Tuesday, taking the game 3-1. The Wolverines haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Griswold had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 17-25, 25-23, 25-14, 25-14.
Putnam better keep an eye on Carly Rubino. She was instrumental in Griswold's win, getting 19 digs and three aces. That's the most digs Rubino has posted over her last nine contests.
Putnam now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Griswold, their win bumped their record up to 14-6.
Putnam suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Griswold in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Thankfully for the Clippers, Kuranda Ruggiero (who had 11 assists and eight aces) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
