The St. Maries Lumberjacks were the 42-13 winner over the Priest River Spartans when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. St. Maries took a 33-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of Priest River. St. Maries has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Several Lumberjacks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brenna Elliott, who scored 11 points along with two steals. Raevyn Yearout was another key contributor, scoring six points along with nine rebounds.
St. Maries' loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Priest River, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Maries won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Kellogg at 5:30 p.m. on January 30th. Kellogg is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51.1 points per game this season. As for Priest River, they will be playing at home against St. Maries at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully St. Maries focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 on Tuesday.
