Hoehne and Walsenburg are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2017, but not for long. The Hoehne Farmers will head out on the road to square off against the Walsenburg Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Hoehne focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Thursday.
Last Thursday, Hoehne ended up a good deal behind Fowler and lost 53-39. Hoehne has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Hoehne saw an underclassman step up: Jayson Guzzo almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Bobby Terry, who scored four points along with six rebounds and four blocks.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Walsenburg's strategy against Swallows Charter Academy on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Walsenburg blew Swallows Charter Academy out of the water with a 65-33 final score. Walsenburg pushed the score to 52-24 by the end of the third, a deficit Swallows Charter Academy had little chance of recovering from.
Hoehne's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Walsenburg, they pushed their record up to 12-5 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Hoehne was dealt a bruising 67-32 defeat at the hands of Walsenburg in their previous matchup back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Walsenburg's Elton Chavez, who dropped a triple-double on 27 points, 23 rebounds, and ten assists. Now that Hoehne knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
