There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. We'll tackle all that (plus a new number one team) in this week's report.
Can't Touch This
Spruce Mountain got a 27 - 25 win over Oak Hill last week, and a key reason for the win was junior Jack Bryant. Bryant ran for 158 yards and also punched in one touchdown. That performance landed Bryant among the top power-ranked players for the week.
A
It was a battle of top-notch squads when Thornton Academy (5th in the power rankings) took on Bonny Eagle (14th) last week. Thornton Academy strolled past Bonny Eagle with points to spare, taking the game 40 - 21. As a result, Thornton Academy rose one spot in the power rankings.
No Stoppin 'Em
Given its edge in the MaxPreps state rankings, a win looked likely for Lisbon/St. Dominic in its matchup against Poland. The team got that and then some. Lisbon/St. Dominic took its game against Poland by a confident 55 - 21 score. Lisbon/St. Dominic's margin of victory (34 points) marked the biggest win the team has had all season. The combined 76-point effort made this the highest-scoring game in the power rankings for the week.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Kennebunk (2nd in the power rankings) and Marshwood (1st). Both teams are entering with last-week wins under their belts. Both the Kennebunk and Marshwood defenses have allowed few points this year (averaging nine ppg and 7.85 ppg, respectively), so the teams might find scoring more difficult than usual this week.
