The Southside Seahawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their 11th straight loss. They fell 73-62 to Columbia. Southside was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Columbia apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Southside lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jeremiah Satchell. Despite the final result, he scored 25 points. Those 25 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Armstrong, who scored 13 points.
Southside's defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-11. As for Columbia, their win bumped their record up to 4-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southside won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Mattamuskeet at 7:30 p.m. on January 5th. As for Columbia, they will be playing at home against Bear Grass Charter at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th. Bear Grass Charter will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
