Basketball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for West Port

West Port waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They were the clear victor by a 56-36 margin over the Buchholz Bobcats. Given the Wolf Pack's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 69th, while the Bobcats are ranked 207th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Aaliyah Grant continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, putting up 11 points and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Calise Smith, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 13 points and five rebounds.

West Port smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in seven consecutive games.

West Port's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 24.7 points. As for Buchholz, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Port won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Vanguard at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. West Port is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.2 points per game this season. Buchholz will take on Hawthorne in a holiday battle at at 3:00 p.m. on Monday.
