After a string of six wins, Cumby's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of the Wolfe City Wolves by a score of 3-2. The Trojans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wolves earlier this season, when they won 3-0.

Cumby actually scored more points across those five sets (108-104), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-21, 20-25, 18-25, 16-14.

Cumby's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 9-14. As for Wolfe City, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-9.

Coincidentally, Cumby and Wolfe City will both be playing Pioneer Technology & Arts Academy the next time they take the court. The Wolves will head out to face Pioneer Technology & Arts Academy at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Trojans will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
