Compton is 0-10 against Woodrow Wilson since April of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Tarbabes will face off against the Bruins at 4:00 p.m.
Compton came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Millikan, falling 22-3.
Compton saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Max Mosqueda, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI. Luis Galaviz was another, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Woodrow Wilson never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They came out on top against Cabrillo by a score of 3-0.
The result came thanks to Cooper George's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up 11 Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Woodrow Wilson is 6-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 6-7 otherwise.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on James Mirabile, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February.
Woodrow Wilson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Compton's defeat dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Woodrow Wilson, their record now sits at 12-9.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Compton has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Woodrow Wilson struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Compton suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Woodrow Wilson when the teams last played back in March. Can the Tarbabes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
