Mohawk is 7-0-1 against Bucyrus since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Warriors will take on the Redmen at 10:00 a.m. Mohawk is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last eight games.
Mohawk's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Elmwood. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 games by eight runs or more this season.
Mohawk got a massive performance out of Emily Brickner, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Mallory Brickner, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Mohawk kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Bucyrus, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Lucas with a sharp 11-4 victory on Wednesday. The Redmen not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 15th (when they won 9-0).
Karlee Shull was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Shull was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Haylee Stratton, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Ni'Cia Floyd was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Mohawk's record now sits at 21-3. As for Bucyrus, their record is now 6-14.
Bucyrus' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mohawk has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.4 hits per game. It's a different story for Bucyrus, though, as they've been averaging 10.4 hits. Given Mohawk's sizable advantage in that area, the Redmen will need to find a way to close that gap.
Mohawk got the 'W' when the teams last played back in April against Bucyrus by a conclusive 30-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
