Marion is 2-0 against Bellaire since October of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Marion Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Bellaire Eagles at 1:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Marion has seven straight victories, Bellaire has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
After only two points in their last matchup, Marion made sure to put some points up on the board against Brethren on Thursday. Marion blew past Brethren, posting a 68-12 victory on the road. The result was nothing new for Marion, who have now won six matchups by 34 points or more so far this season.
Marion's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Colin Mccrimmon led the charge by rushing for 133 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries, while also throwing for 186 yards and two touchdowns on only six passes. Another player making a difference was Cole Meyer, who gained 221 total yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Bellaire had to suffer through a rough 52-6 loss at the hands of Inland Lakes. While losing is never fun, Bellaire can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan football rankings (they are ranked 88th, while Inland Lakes is ranked 19th).
Marion's win was their ninth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 7-0. They've been dominating across those matchups too: they took their wins by an average of 53 points. As for Bellaire, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.
Marion came out on top in a nail-biter against Bellaire in their previous matchup back in October of 2021, sneaking past 2-0. Will Marion repeat their success, or does Bellaire have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
