Football Recap: Putnam City's Winning Streak Snapped at Six Games

Putnam City dropped down to 6-2 on Thursday, ending the team's six-game streak of wins. They fell 33-20 to the Stillwater Pioneers. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while the Pioneers are ranked tenth).

Although Putnam City took the loss, they still got scores from Deshawn Buford, Shaun Brown, and Savion James.

As for Stillwater, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 8.0 points on average over those games.

Stillwater got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was David Thomas out in front who picked up 128 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. That's the most receiving yards Thomas has posted since back in October of 2024. Another back making a difference was Kyle Stokes, who rushed for 41 yards and two scores.

Coming up, Putnam City will challenge Southmoore at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st. As for Stillwater, they will square off against Piedmont at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st. The Pioneers will need to watch out since the Wildcats have now posted at least 31 points in their last four games.
