Montgomery Catholic is on a nine-game streak of home wins, while Andalusia is on a 11-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Montgomery Catholic Knights will take on the Andalusia Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Montgomery Catholic never let their opponents score. They claimed a resounding 63-0 victory over Dale County at home. Given Montgomery Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 22nd, while Dale County is ranked 232nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Montgomery Catholic got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Josh Griffin out in front who rushed for 136 yards and three touchdowns, and also caught a touchdown. Griffin is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Mccreary, who threw for 193 yards and four touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes.
Meanwhile, Andalusia's and Booker T. Washington's matchup on Friday was close at halftime, but Andalusia turned on the heat in the second half with 20 points. Andalusia put the hurt on Booker T. Washington with a sharp 27-6 win.
The wins kept both teams' perfect 9-0 season records intact.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's matchup: Montgomery Catholic has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 410 total yards per game. It's a different story for Andalusia, though, as they've been averaging only 222.1 per game. Will Montgomery Catholic be able to march up the field at their leisure again, or will Andalusia flip the ?
Montgomery Catholic couldn't quite finish off Andalusia in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 and fell 29-26. Thankfully for Montgomery Catholic, Dorean Crittenden (who rushed for 208 yards and two touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
