The Wenonah Dragons and the Parker Thundering Herd will face off at 6:00 p.m. on December 11th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Wenonah had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They breezed by Bessemer City at home to the tune of 63-18. Given Wenonah's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while Bessemer City is ranked 363rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Samarian Franklin continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 10 steals. The game was her ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Gabrielle Blanks, who scored 10 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals.
Meanwhile, Parker made easy work of Fairfield on Friday and carried off a 54-30 win.
Wenonah's win bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Parker, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
Wenonah couldn't quite finish off Parker in their previous meeting last Thursday and fell 59-57. Can Wenonah avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
