After flying high against the Mead Raiders on Friday, the Osceola Bulldogs came back down to earth. Osceola was the victim of a rough 40-18 loss at the hands of Archbishop Bergan on Saturday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Osceola has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Osceola still got an impressive performance from Courtney Sunday, who scored eight points. Sunday has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Osceola struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
It was another big night for Paige Frickenstein, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and five blocks for Archbishop Bergan. The matchup was Frickenstein's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Sydney Meyer was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven rebounds.
Osceola's loss dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Archbishop Bergan, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Osceola and Cross County will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Cross County will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. Archbishop Bergan and Homer will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Homer will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 215th, while Archbishop Bergan is ranked 58th).
