Make it eight blowout wins for the Marcellus Mustangs this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Cazenovia 80-46 at home. The win was familiar territory for Marcellus who now have six in a row.
It was another big night for Will Burnett, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. Another player making a difference was Mitch Donegan, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Marcellus' victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.5 points per game. As for Cazenovia, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-8.
Marcellus will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Solvay at 7:00 p.m. Solvay will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 601st, while Marcellus is ranked 11th). As for Cazenovia, they will head out on the road to challenge Mt. Markham at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Mt. Markham knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Cazenovia likes a good challenge.
