U-32 has gone 7-0-1 against Harwood recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Raiders will welcome the Highlanders at 4:45 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
On Monday, U-32 got the win against Mt. Mansfield by a conclusive 9-2. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by seven runs or more this season.
Megan Pittsley spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits.
At the plate, Ava Batdorff was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with six stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That double was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Coleman, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
U-32 always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Harwood). They put the hurt on Peoples Academy with a sharp 16-4 win on Tuesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Highlanders as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
The team relied heavily on Tara Nagle, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. Cally Young was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
U-32's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Harwood, the victory was their first at home, bumping their record up to 2-8.
Harwood's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. U-32 has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Harwood, though, as they've been averaging only 1.6 strikeouts. Will U-32 keep running through batters, or will the Highlanders buck the trend?
U-32 got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in April against Harwood by a conclusive 17-0 score. Will the Raiders repeat their success, or do the Highlanders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
