The Benedictine Bengals suffered their biggest loss since December 23, 2023 on Saturday. They were dealt a 95-57 loss at the hands of St. Edward. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Benedictine in their matchups with St. Edward: they've now lost nine in a row.
Despite the loss, Benedictine still got an impressive performance from Kris Smith, who scored 26 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Smith has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Bryce Meitin, who scored four points.
Benedictine has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. As for St. Edward, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-5.
Benedictine will head out on the road to square off against Open Door Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Open Door Christian's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six matchups. As for St. Edward, St. Edward and St. Ignatius will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. St. Ignatius knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 16 contests -- so hopefully St. Edward likes a good challenge.
