Yorktown is 1-8 against New Palestine since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Yorktown Tigers will look to defend their home court against the New Palestine Dragons at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Tuesday, things could have been worse for Yorktown, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 51-33 loss to Greenfield-Central. Yorktown has not had much luck with Greenfield-Central recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite their loss, Yorktown saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Lilly Sylvester, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and two blocks, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Addy Barnes, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, New Palestine's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 45-35 to Greensburg. While losing is never fun, New Palestine can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while Greensburg is ranked 27th).
Yorktown's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-9. As for New Palestine, their loss dropped their record down to 11-10.
Yorktown was able to grind out a solid win over New Palestine in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, winning 55-44. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was New Palestine's Isabella Gizzi, who scored 28 points along with seven rebounds and five blocks.
